Waterfront Bike Ride

Brooklyn Waterfront Bicycle Tour
**** November 4th (Raindate Nov. 11th) 2000 ****

You are invited to join The Gowanus Dredgers Canoe Club on our second Brooklyn Waterfront Bicycle Tour: Nature's Reclamation. The tour is FREE so
you can just show up and join us for the ride.

When: Saturday, November 4th starting at 9:00am sharp Where: The Steps of Borough Hall (Court and Joralemon St.) Rain Date: Tour moves to November 11th if lightly raining at 8:30am Information: 718.243-0849 or www.waterfrontmuseum.org/dredgers/

This tour will head south down Furman Street to Red Hook briefly highlighting the proposed greenway and some features of the lost waterfront
neighborhood of South Brooklyn. From Red Hook, the ride will continue slowly up the banks of the Gowanus Canal exploring the hidden treasures of
landmarks, bridges, dead end streets and a full history of the neighborhood - narrated by your host and waterfront advocate, Owen Foote.

The riding pace is very easy and very slow around the Gowanus Canal. A perfect tour for beginners and all ages. We will arrive around 12:30pm at
543 Union Street - a building filled with artists who will open their doors as part of a neighborhood art studio tour. Pack a lunch or snack and some
water. Dress warm but with layers in case you get hot. The tour will be moved to Sunday (November 11) if it is raining at 8:30am.
The bicycle tour should run from 9:00am to +/-12:30pm and if you only want to bicycle the Gowanus neighborhood (at a slower pace), meet us at 10:45am at the 9th Street Bridge (Smith and 9th "F" Subway). The ride is free but donations will be accepted to finance the Gowanus Dredger Canoe Club's environmental restoration efforts. Don't forget a helmet, sunscreen and a camera for the spectacular views.
